So My Computer Has A Virus And I Cannot Get Rid Of It?

Posted on 1st January 2010

My computer got a virus about 2 weeks ago, and normally I get small ones and shut them down pretty quickly. This one pretends to be windows defender and says there is an infection. It popped up and I clicked it without thinking, Just when I did, I realized that it had to be a virus. At first I thought nothing happened but it seems to be a virus importing program. I cannot access the internet and my computer is horribly slow. I have tried Spybot Search and Destroy, Malwarebytes Antimalware, Super Anti Spyware Free Edition, Smitfraud removal tool, and AVG 8.5. What is the virus and how can I get rid of it without reformating my computer?

The virus name is Fake Alert. Without have a paid version of a good antivirus a reinstall is nessary. Yes I have ran into this one time and time again. The only way from not getting is to do a system restore before shut down. Once you shut down the machine it will disable system restore and make you computer unrestorable. Well the other fix would be to reinstall a back-up but your best bet would be a clean install. Sorry. I would do a search on “Fake Alert” and see if there is any tool that reverse the harm it been awhile seen I tried to fix one. Most of the time my friend call me as soon as it happen and I walk them though the fix.

Please try to delete all the internet temporary files like temp, %temp% and prefetch files. After that scan your computer for the viruses, spywares and malwraes.
